Mass requests for the dead can now be made online as the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) launched its new website for the Filipino tradition of “Undas,” http://undasonline.com.
Monsignor Pedro Quitorio III, CBCP Media Office director, said this feature of their website is particularly for Filipinos abroad, who cannot make it to their parish this All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
“For those who cannot make it to your parishes, especially Filipinos in other countries or the seafarers, you may request masses to be celebrated for your beloved dead,” he said.

It will do Jinkee Pacquiao a lot of good if she will stop talking about the alleged philandering ways of her husband.
In the latest spate of controversy linking Pacquiao to a certain Kat Ordoñez whose baby was baptized recently, Jinkee justified her husband (once again!) by mentioning the name of Krista Ranillo. “Manny promised me that after Krista, wala nang iba pang kasunod at naniniwala ako sa asawa ko,” she said to this effect.
We believe that Jinkee will be better advised if: 1. she opens her eyes to the realities of her life; 2. she stops mentioning Krista in her interviews.

Surprises, revelations in 'PBB Unlimited'

There will be “unlimited” revelations in the newest and fourth edition of “Pinoy Big Brother” which starts airing Saturday night (Oct. 29) on ABS-CBN.
In “PBB Unlimited: The Big Fiesta,” hosts Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzalez who will be joined by newbies Robi Domingo and Martin Concio, will finally reveal the new set of housemates.
“This is definitely going to be better than the last,” an excited Toni said. “Compared to past seasons, I think this is the grandest season of PBB.”


Bong Revilla's younger brother killed

Ram Bautista Revilla, a budding actor and the half-brother of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., was killed in his home in Parañaque City before midnight on Friday.
This was confirmed by the senator himself in an interview with dzMM.
 According to Revilla, his brother was stabbed and shot to death. This was corroborated by Police Officer 2 Francisco Bukid, the first to arrive at the crime scene, in a separate interview with the same radio station.


4 caregivers cited for Japan heroism

Four Filipino caregivers working at the Social Welfare Juridical Seihoukai in Komine-en, Shirakawa City, in the southern portion of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, were chosen to receive the 2011 Bagong Bayani Award (New Heroes Award) for Community and Social Service by the Bagong Bayani Foundation in Manila.President Benigno Aquino III is expected to give the award to the four Filipino caregivers in fitting ceremonies at Malacañang on Dec. 1.

Kuya Germs deems Shaina leaving for the US 'good decision'

After confirming that John Lloyd Cruz’s girlfriend, Shaina Magdayao, has left for the US, veteran host German Moreno offered advice to the controversial couple.
"Umiwas muna sa pag papa-interview kasi habang nagsasalita sila, mas lalong nagiging magulo. Minsan kasi iba yung nagiging interpretasyon sa gusto nilang sabihin, imbis na mapabuti, napapasama pa,” he was quoted as saying by PEP on their Oct. 27 report.


Maasinhon Trio takes on controversies

Less than a week after being declared “Pilipinas Got Talent 3” winners, Andrew Sanchez, Licinio Lolo and Bonifacio Salubre a.k.a.the Maasinhon Trio find themselves at the receiving end of criticisms.
Asked to address this issue, Lolo told Bulletin Entertainment and other members of the media in an interview on Thursday, “Para sa amin, siguro opinyon nila yun. The Brewer Boys booted out from 'X Factor'

Filipino-American brothers, Nathan, 14, and Justin, 17, better known as The Brewer Boys, were eliminated from “The X Factor” reality show Tuesday night [US Time].
Despite performing the George Michael original “Faith,” it proved to be insufficient to push the brothers into the next round. The duo was one of the five acts booted from the reality show, which included Phillip Lomax, Dexter Haygood, Simone Battle, and Tiah Tolliver.


Mario Maurer, Erich Gonzales to star in a movie

Thai actor Mario Maurer inked a one-movie contract with Star Cinema shortly after his arrival on Wednesday, and it has also been confirmed that his leading lady for said flick will indeed be Erich Gonzales.
Recall that a rumor alleging their purported pairing first circulated among various social networking sites in late July this year. In reaction to this, Gonzales said during a press conference last July, “Sa ngayon po ay hindi pa napag-uusapan, pero happy ako na matuloy 'yan, 'yung ma-consider lang sobrang happy ako, masaya po ako at salamat po sa kanila [fans], tignan po natin kung matutuloy po.”

World's population now 7 billion

The world’s population now stands at seven billion, and Asia remains home to 60 percent of the world’s people, the 2011 State of the World Population report by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) revealed Wednesday.
The report retains the Philippines as the 12th most populous country in the world with 94.9-million people while China continues to be the most populous nation at 1.35 billion, followed by India at 1.24 billion.
However, the population division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs estimates that India will overtake China with 1.46-billion people in 2025 against China’s 1.39 billion on the same year.


More breast cancer diagnosed in women with diabetes

 Women with recently diagnosed diabetes may be more likely to also get a breast cancer diagnosis than those without diabetes, suggests a new study from Canada.
It's not the first time diabetes has been linked to new cases of breast or other cancers. But the findings also hint that at least part of the reason why doctors find more breast cancer in diabetics is because they're looking harder -- and not necessarily because diabetes itself raises a woman's cancer risk.

But Boy didn’t stop there. He immediately followed up with, “Marami ka ng pera?” to which Charice just laughed and said “Hindi ko po alam.”


Claudine Barretto loses money in bank

Claudine Barretto was reported crying just outside a bank Oct. 25 after the money she was withdrawing from her account allegedly ‘disappeared’ mysteriously.
It was unclear how the "24 Oras" news crew came to be at the bank then, but the report noted Barretto had been fuming mad while inside the bank. Later, outside the bank, Barretto was distressed was enough at that point that she would only tearfully tell the reporter, “Tanungin niyo na lang ‘yung lawyer ko, please,” when asked what happened.

An administration congressman wants House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” R. Belmonte Jr. to revive the Biometric Electronic Voting System (BEVS) project that two of his predecessors failed to install due to a glitch in the installed system.
Negros Occidental Rep. Alfredo Benitez filed House Resolution No. 1783 seeking a review of the status of the P15-million electronic plenary voting system that was initiated by then House Speaker Jose C. de Venecia Jr. in late 2007.


American Idol's Steven Tyler Loses Two Teeth After Falling in the Shower

American Idol judge Steven Tyler was hospitalized today after falling down while staying at the Bourbon Hotel in Asuncion, according to reports out of Paraguay. The Aerosmith singer reportedly slipped in the shower.

Teen singing sensation Justin Bieber gave fans an early Christmas present on Monday with the release of a second single from his upcoming holiday album "Under The Mistletoe."

The single, "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire," is a festive R&B ballad on which Bieber duets with his mentor, Usher. The 17-year-old singer previously collaborated with Usher on the single "Somebody to Love" from his multi-platinum debut album "My World 2.0."

“The X-Factor USA” season one recently unveiled its top 17 finalists, which includes Filipino-American brothers Justin and Nathan Brewer a.k.a. The Brewer Boys.
Prior, there were 32 contestants in all divided into four groups and mentored by an “X-Factor” judge: Girls (Simon Cowell), Groups (Paula Abdul), Over 30s (Nicole Scherzinger) and Boys (L.A. Reid). The Brewer Boys were part of the Groups block.

Bill legalizing marriage annulment pushed

In promoting equality before the law, a House leader pushed Wednesday for the passage of a bill legalizing the annulment of marriages by various religious sects in the country.
Deputy Speaker and Cebu Rep. Pablo Garcia lamented that there is no pertinent law recognizing the annulment of marriages by other religious sects in the Philippines, saying that under the Civil Code of the Philippines, only Muslim divorces or dissolutions of marriages are recognized by State.


How Do Giant Pandas Survive on Bamboo?

A new analysis of panda poop has finally answered an age-old question: How do giant pandas survive on a diet that's 99 percent bamboo when they have the guts of carnivores?
Plant-eating animals tend to have longer intestines to aid in digesting fibrous material, a trait the black-and-white bears lack.
What's more, when the giant panda's genome was sequenced in 2009, scientists found that the creature lacks the genes for any known enzymes that would help break down cellulose, the plant fibers found in bamboo and other grasses.

GSIS coverage for elected seniors

 A proposal that would require Government Security and Insurance System (GSIS) to give life insurance and premiums to senior citizens, who are elected or appointed as public servants, has been proposed in the House of Representatives.
Surigao del Sur Rep. Philip Pichay filed House Bill No. 5327 to amend Republic Act No. 8291, which he said created the GSIS but failed to recognize the services of those who heed the call of public service despite their being beyond the mandatory retirement age of 60 years old under the law's implementing rules and regulations.

Pag-IBIG releases P601-M calamity loans for members

The Pag-IBIG fund has approved the release of over P601 million in calamity loans to more than 37,000 Fund members affected by typhoons “Pedring” and “Quiel.”
Vice President Jejomar C. Binay, concurrent chairman of the Pag-IBIG Board of Trustees, revealed this Monday, adding that the Board has directed the deployment of Pag-IBIG employees in more areas affected by the flooding to accept calamity loan applications “We would like to assure our members that Pag-IBIG will always be ready to extend assistance to them whenever they need it,” Binay said.


Albert Martinez discloses new info on wife's battle against cancer

Seasoned actor Albert Martinez has revealed a dreadful “setback” that his wife Liezl Martinez experienced in her battle with the Big C.
“Akala namin okay na [pero] nag-recur yung Big C and again gumuho nanaman ‘yung mundo ko,” said a somber Albert on “The Buzz,” Oct. 16.
Recall that Liezel was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2008. Some 11 months later, Albert himself confirmed his wife to be cancer-free and on the way to full recovery from the disease.

The Youngest Mother to ever Give Birth was 5 Years Old

Lina Medina (born September 27, 1933, in Ticrapo, Huancavelica Region, Peru) is the youngest confirmed mother in medical history, giving birth at the age of five years, seven months and 21 days.

Born in Ticrapo, Peru, Medina was brought to a hospital by her parents at the age of five years due to increasing abdominal size. She was originally thought to have had a tumor, but her doctors determined she was in her seventh month of pregnancy. 


8.5M tech-voc expected enrollees by the end of 2016

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) disclosed that it is targeting the enrollment of 8.5 million people in various technical vocational courses by the end of 2016.
TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva disclosed that TESDA is hoping that 8,487,070 people would have been enrolled by the end of 2016. He said TESDA aims to have 7,715,610 students or 90 percent finishing their courses.

YouTube Philippines Launched

Popular online video sharing site YouTube has officially unveiled YouTube Philippines, the first localized version in Southeast Asia and the 34th across the world.
YouTube, which is owned by Internet giant Google, cited the video habits of Filipinos as the reason they have opted to launch the localized service. According to the Oct. 14 episode of “Unang Hirit," the Philippines has the most number of registered users of YouTube at almost 30 million in the Southeast Asian region.


Pacquiao now Lt. Col. in Army reserve force

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced Friday that President Benigno S. Aquino III has approved the commissionship of boxing champ Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel Pacquiao as lieutenant colonel in the Army reserve force.
The AFP said it has already received the confirmation from the Office of the President, granting the world boxing champ his new rank in the reserve force, effective Sept. 21, 2011.
