Janelle Manahan seeks protection

The camp of actress Janelle Manahan Thursday sought for a Department of Justice (DoJ) protection due to the threats in the life of the actress after giving detailed statements on the murder of actor Ram Revilla that implicated the slain actor's sister Ramona.

Lawyer Restituto Mendoza, who stands counsel for Manahan, filed on Thursday a request for his client's inclusion to the DoJ's Witness Protection Program (WPP) as he believes that the life of Revilla's girlfriend is still in danger.

Social media has inadvertently aided the spread of the HIV in the Philippines according to an ongoing study by the Department of Health (DOH).

Health Assistant Secretary Dr. Eric Tayag revealed that social media use contributed to increased sexual activity and heightened risk of HIV transmission.

The completion of the study, according to Tayag, will enable DOH to understand and address the problem.

DBM Proposes P11.68-B for Addt’l P10K PEI Bonus for 1.67M Gov't Personnel

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has proposed to President Benigno S. Aquino III an additional holiday bonus of P10,000 to 1.67 million government personnel in the form of a Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI). Secretary Florencio B. Abad said that this proposal will cost P11.68 billion in total.

Jackson doc gets 4-year jail term

Michael Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray was jailed for the maximum four years Tuesday over the star’s 2009 death, as a judge lashed the medic’s behavior as “money-for-medicine madness.”

While he is expected to actually serve less than half of that, Murray could also be forced to pay compensation to Jackson’s family, the judge ruled after a prosecution call for the amount to be set at $100 million.

Jackson’s 81-year-old mother Katherine hailed the sentencing, but added: “Four years is not enough for someone’s life.
