Recruitment agencies should not collect excessive placement fees from applicants or charge placement fees from workers seeking employment in countries which have laws that prohibit the same, if they don’t want to lose their license, said the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac said there is total prohibition on charging placement fees from Filipino household service workers, seafarers, and workers for deployment to countries which disallows placement fee collection.

DOLE Pushes Short-Term Courses

Students who want to get employment fast might want to consider getting short-term courses on food and beverage.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, in a statement, said students who were not able to enroll in tertiary education should consider looking into the short-term food and beverage (F&B) courses that are available in many technical-vocational schools in the country such as those for waiters and waitresses, baristas, bartenders, cooks, and kitchen helpers.
