Kevin Durant scored 19 points and LeBron James added 18 to lead the United States team of NBA stars over Argentina 109-83 on Friday and into the Olympic men’s basketball gold medal final against Spain.
The Americans booked a rematch of the 2008 Olympic final and reached the gold medal game for the 15th time in 17 attempts, having missed out in 1988 and 2004 and skipped the 1980 Moscow Olympics in a boycott.

Lakers Clinch NBA Playoff Spot
The Los Angeles Lakers clinched an NBA playoff spot by beating the Denver Nuggets 103-97 on Friday despite the absence of Kobe Bryant and coach Mike Brown.
Andrew Bynum had 30 points and eight rebounds and Matt Barnes added a season-high 24 points for the Lakers, who have won three of four without Bryant, who is resting a bruised shin.

Retired NBA legend Michael Jordan was hailed as the greatest player in basketball history by two potential rivals to the throne on Friday as he celebrated his 49th birthday.
As the NBA currently salutes Jeremy Lin, the first US-born NBA player of Taiwanese and Chinese heritage who has gone from bench-warmer to star for the New York Knicks, Jordan's legendary career was recalled by other icons.

Recap Ateneo and La Salle's first basketball standoff this UAAP season
The Ateneo Blue Eagles beat archrivals the De La Salle Green Archers 81-72 in an action-packed game last July 16 at the Araneta Coliseum. Rookie Eagle Kiefer Ravena broke out with a whopping 24 points (22 in the first half alone), solidifying him as a formidable presence on court.
