3 OFWs die in Beirut building

Three Filipinos were among the 26 people killed when a five-story residential building in Beirut, Lebanon collapsed Monday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed in a radio interview Tuesday.
Aside from the Filipinos, the victims included eight Sudanese, two Egyptians and two Jordanians, local newspaper has reported.
The identities of the Filipinos are still unknown.

The owner of the building was arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation, Lebanon Interior Minister Marwan Charbel was quoted by reporters as saying.
Initial reports revealed that cracks in the old building could have caused its collapse.
As of press time, rescuers continue to comb the rubble for more bodies.
The apartment block was home to about 50 people - many of them Sudanese and Egyptian labourers.
