Piolo Pascual, Coco Martin: Looking back and moving forward
In spite of the controversies they got embroiled in last year, Kapamilya prized actors Piolo Pascual and Coco Martin welcome 2012 with positive disposition.
Although Piolo did not directly address what may well be the biggest issue that shook his career—his highly talked-about breakup with TV host-actress KC Concepcion—the local idol deemed that 2011 has been “his most challenging year.”
“I’m thankful... grateful for the year that was, and of course, [I'm] looking forward to another year. You never dwell on negative things... You just look ahead. You think positively about everything,” he added.
With all the issues that branched out from the split, including renewed speculations on his sexuality, Piolo remains humbled by the support of his fans.
“Maging masaya tayo sa taong ito. I think the most important thing is for us to check our hearts if it’s in place, and keep the faith. Thanks everyone for everything,” he said.
The heartthrob-actor would rather concentrate on the big projects lined up for him, one of which is the drama series with Jericho Rosales, “Padre de Pamilya.”
“It’ll be shown soon and I’m excited. I had to cancel my Valentine show because madugo ‘yung taping eh. So I have to concentrate first sa TV,” he enthused.
As producer, he’ll be occupied with projects under his company, Springfields.
“[The sequel for] ’Kimmy Dora’ is shooting already and we have a movie here in ABS[-CBN] and another movie outside [the network]. Iniisip na namin kung anong ipa-prioritize namin because maraming naka-line-up,” he related.
Piolo also looks forward to his son IƱigo’s graduation in June.
“I’m attending his graduation first in the States and hopefully he’ll spend some time here after that,” said he.
Meanwhile, Coco—who got enmeshed in a heated confrontation with Matteo Guidicelli over the latter’s girlfriend Maja Salvador last September—owes the outpour of his success to his fans.
“Hindi lang sa dami ng trabaho, hindi lang sa dami ng award na nakuha ko, lahat eh, pati sa family ko, hindi ko na nga alam kung saang pamamaraan ko maibalik sa mga tao. Kasi kung nasa’n man ako ngayon ay utang na loob ko sa lahat ng mga taong sumuporta mula nung nagsimula ako, sa lahat ng mga taong nanonood at humahanga sa’kin,” he said in a separate interview with “The Buzz.”
For 2012, the matinee idol takes on a project he hasn’t exactly done before, considering that most of Coco’s previous project were family and action dramas. This year, he is set to do a love story via the series “Walang Hanggan” opposite Julia Montes.
“Masaya kasi magaan tsaka nakaka-in love pala ‘yung paggawa ng mga love story,” was Coco’s realization.
He's also excited to grace the big screen anew with his respective first projects with Angeline Quinto and Judy Ann Santos.
