Janelle Manahan's lawyers suspect Ram's sister Mara uploaded sex video
Lawyers of actress Janelle Manahan have intimated that Ramona “Mara” Bautista might have uploaded the sex video of their client and murdered actor Ram Revilla that made rounds online late last year.
“Batay sa aming pagmo-monitor… noong pumutok ang sex video at in-upload ito sa YouTube, ang mga IP addresses umano ay galing pang Europa. At alam naman natin kung sino sa pamilya Bautista ang nasa Europa ngayon. Walang iba kundi si Mara Bautista,” Atty. Argee Guevarra, one of Janelle’s lawyers, told “The Buzz” in an interview, Jan. 8.
Another Bautista sibling, Gail Furuyama, is implicated in the circulation of the controversial video. Atty. Luke Espiritu, another lawyer of Janelle’s, noted YouTube user gillespiegen, a name which he said “can easily be equated [to] ‘Gail spying on Ramgen.’” The account was created Nov. 9, 2011.
“May mga YouTube account na na-create bago pa kumalat ang sex video. Ginamit lang precisely for the purpose of spreading the sex video,” Atty. Espiritu also said.
Meanwhile, Gail’s lawyer refuted the allegations of Janelle’s camp.
“Wag nating ibintang sa pamilya ni Ramgen... O ngayon sinasabi niyo na si Mara, because Mara is in Turkey, puwede rin ang pulis. I doubt very much if that criminal is stupid para ma-trace sila,” he told “The Buzz” in a separate interview.
He went on to defend his client, thus: “Gail has nothing to do with the killing of Ramgen and nothing to do with the shooting of Janelle and has nothing to do with the exhibition with this x-rated or this sex video.”
The Bautista matriarch, former actress Genelyn Magsaysay, earlier denied that her family was responsible for the leaking the video, maintaining that they don’t have Ram’s laptop from where the video was supposedly obtained, only to later on admit that they do have his laptop but could not open it because it’s password-protected.
Janelle’s legal counsel apparently isn’t convinced with Genelyn’s purported alibi.
“…any ordinary IT expert will tell you, nagtanong-tanong din kami, all you need to do ‘pag gusto mong ma-access ang memory at mga files sa isang passworded computer or laptop is to remove the hard disk and put it in another computer. Napakadali pong i-open,” said Atty. Resty Mendoza.
Whoever was behind uploading the video on YouTube can be traced, an IT expert told “The Buzz” in the same segment. According to Jerry Liao, a business technology analyst, it can be done by identifying the internet protocol or IP address.
“Ito (IP address) ‘yung identification mo every time you go to the web. ‘Yung video kasi in-upload sa YouTube eh. So hihingin mo ngayon kay YouTube ‘yung information na ‘yon. Kailangan may court order na; ang challenge dito is to be able to associate the IP address sa isang tao. Kasi ang daming IP address diyan eh,” he said.
Videos that have been erased can likewise be tracked down, he added.
“…naka-record pa rin do’n, may log na in-upload mo ‘tong file na ‘to. So naka-log din do’n na in-erase mo...” said he.
Atty. Guevarra called on the public to respect his client Janelle, as well as her departed boyfriend Ram.
“Ang paglabas ng sex video na ito ay isang kalapastanganan na hindi natin dapat tinatangkilik,” said he.
Janelle’s camp is resolute on filing a criminal case vs. the Bautistas for allegedly violating Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, one of the authors of which was Ram’s half-brother, actor-senator Bong Revilla, Jr.
Despite feeling devastated over another blow in her personal life, Janelle remains strong and keen on moving forward. The “Star Circle Quest” contestant, who’s also a designer, tweeted on Jan. 8, “will start designing for my lines summer 2012 collection + collab shoots this month and next month. time to get busy!”
