Charice addresses ruckus over mag cover

Filipino international singer Charice is apparently immune to criticisms as she coolly addressed the negative feedback she got over her much talked-about and alleged heavily edited magazine cover.

“Kelan ba ‘ko naging maganda sa mga haters? So I guess it’s normal for them and for me. Nung nakita ko sabi ko, ‘Diyos ko, ano ba naman ‘to? Ano ba’ng gagawin ko? Ano’ng isasagot ko?’

“So wala na eh, wala na ‘ko talagang masagot para sa kanila. Ang sa’kin na lang every time na may mga ganito, I think asahan na lang natin na may mga ganun talagang lalabas,” she said in an interview aired on GMA-7’s “Balitanghali,” Jan. 10.

Vince Uy, creative director of Preview magazine—where Charice’s controversial photo appeared—maintained in an interview on “24 Oras,” Jan. 3, that though they utilized graphics editing software Adobe Photoshop, “we didn’t overuse it.”

“I think that’s [using Photoshop] already, in this day and age… a common practice… We [only] wanted to give her something fresh, something that people haven’t really seen her in,” Vince explained.

The 19-year-old chanteuse unexpectedly arrived in the country on Tuesday on a wheelchair, with her left foot bandaged, as seen on GMA News TV’s “Balitanghali.”

According to Charice, she accidentally injured her foot while skateboarding near their home in Los Angeles, California, on Christmas Day.

“I was having fun with Carl (brother) and ‘yung iba ko pong friends tapos natakot ako kasi iniwasan ko ‘yung sasakyan so nag-panic ako. Eh kasi, ‘di ba, ‘pag nagse-skateboard, dapat relax ka lang... [eh] nag-panic ako, [so] nadulas ako,” she recounted.

In a separate report by abs-cbnNEWS.com, Charice was quoted as saying, “Nag-crack ang isang buto [ko] sa hinliliit.”

The former “Glee” guest star will be on crutches or wheelchair for six weeks, added the report.

Her foot, meanwhile, will be bandaged for a month, stated “Balitanghali.”

It will be a two-week stay for Charice in the Philippines—mainly to celebrate the 40th birthday of her mother Raquel Pempengco—before she heads back to the US for her commitments. The budding actress will likewise reunite with her fellow contestants from “Little Big Star” in a party that will be held at an undisclosed resort on Jan. 14, reported abs-cbnNEWS.com.

“Ang plano lang namin... baka may kantahang maganap, pero ang importante ay ang bonding again," Charice said of the gathering.

"Gusto niya ako sanang sorpresahin pero mukhang siya ang masu-surpresa at nakumpleto ko ang 'Big Stars,'" her mommy Raquel noted.
