Regine gives birth to baby boy

Nov. 8 marks a new milestone in Regine Velasquez’ life as she finally gives birth to a bouncing baby boy.

“At 7:47pm nov 8,2011. God gave us Nathianel [Nathaniel] James. Thank you for the prayers. God bless you all!” Regine’s husband, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, posted on his Twitter account (@ogiealcasid).

At the press launch for the OPM Summit in July, Alcasid disclosed, "Napili namin ‘yung Nathaniel kasi parang bagay na bagay. Mayamang pakinggan ang pangalan, ‘di ba? Sosyal na sosyal. At gusto naming nickname niya ay Nate. Para lang siyang isa sa characters ng 'Gossip Girl'! Kaya kapag tinawag namin siya, 'Nate!' Uy, ang sosyal!"

A few friends of the couple expressed online their happiness for the new parents.

Internationally acclaimed singer Jed Madela (@jedmadela) said, “Congratulations Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez! Finally! The baby has arrived!!! @ogiealcasid.”

While the husband of singer Jessa Zaragoza, OPM singer Dingdong Avanzado (@da_avanzado) posted, “Congratulations to ogie and regine for being blessed with a baby boy named Nathaniel! So happy for them!”

After an onslaught of congratulatory messages to the couple from fans and entertainment friends alike, as of 11:00 a.m. their son’s name, Nathaniel James, is on the eighth spot of the top trending Twitter topics in the Philippines.

Other than Regine, another expectant mother is set to give birth to a baby girl this month—the controversial Kapamilya young actress, Andi Eigenmann.
