Apple hires iPhone jailbreak hacker

Apple Inc. has hired a 19-year-old hacker who has found security vulnerabilities in the iOS software that runs its iPhone, iPad and iPod devices.
Nicholas Allegra, a.k.a. “comex," said in an entry on his Twitter account he is to start his internship with Apple.

“So, the week after next I will be starting an internship with Apple," he tweeted.

TechCrunch said Allegra had made the process of jailbreaking the iPhone “as simple as visiting a webpage using mobile Safari."

It described Allegra as a 19-year old hacker from Chappaqua, New York, who was one of the most visible members of the jailbreaking community.

His JailBreakMe was far easier to use, allowing visitors to just launch the website from their mobile devices.

“Not all jailbreakers are interested in stealing apps – sometimes, like their Android-rooting counterparts, they just want control over their handset. On jailbroken iOS devices, users can make tweaks to the software and install widgets, themes and other unapproved applications by way of third-party ‘jailbreak’ app stores like Cydia, Icy and ThemeIt," TechCrunch said.
