Miss Philippines-Earth: 'Embrace your flaws'

TV news researcher and now Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 titlist Athena Mae Imperial of Casiguran, Aurora imparts advice to women aspiring for success.

"You have to really embrace your beauty, even your flaws, kasi dun ka po magsha-shine,” Imperial told “Umagang Kay Ganda” in a post-pageant  interview aired on June 6. The Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 coronation night was held at the Puerto Prinsesa Coliseum in Palawan on Sunday.
According to the “UKG” report, giving Imperial the top title was a unanimous decision among the panel of judges that included renowned portrait photographer Rupert Jacinto, Ricky Reyes, Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson and TV host/columnist Dolly Ann Carvajal.

Reyes said that he finds the win “malaking sorpresa, nakakatuwa,” adding,  “Sometimes, sabi nga ni Gov. [Singson], kailangan pinaiiral talaga yung utak. Hindi lang basta ganda.”

While Imperial admits to finding it hard to believe that she bested 49 other candidates from around the country, she said she “...feel[s] so blessed na ako po yung tinanghal na nanalo ngayon.”

Aside from Imperial, other Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 titlists are Jonavi Raisa Quiray of Puerto Princesa City (Air), Murielle Adrienne Orais of Cebu City (Water), Michelle Gavagan of Las Piñas City (Fire), and Tarhata Clio Shari Rico of Makati City (Eco-Tourism).

More, the “UKG” report mentioned that the winners are set to meet President Noynoy Aquino today as part of the campaign to push the Puerto Prinsesa Underground River to a spot in the New7Wonders of Nature. Online voting can be done at new7wonders.com until Nov. 11.

Meanwhile, Imperial will be vying with candidates from all competing countries at the Miss Earth 2011 pageant night on Nov. 12 to be held in Pattaya, Thailand.
