Banks Directed: Keep ATMs Full

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Nestor A. Espenilla Jr. in a memo reminded all banks to make sure that automated teller machines (ATM) will have funds to service withdrawal transactions this coming five-day Lent, and public holidays.

"As people flock to the provinces during long holidays like Lenten Season, demand for ATM service is expected to surge," said Espenilla. "Banks are therefore reminded to keep their ATM facility ready 24x7 and undertake ATM preparedness program."

Soldiers get surprise at ATM

As part of the Philippine Army’s morale and welfare program, 85,000 Army personnel got added pay in their ATM accounts this month equivalent to three days' worth of leave.

Army spokesman Maj. Harold Cabunoc said officers received from P5,505 to P11,032 while non-commissioned officers were paid from P2,511 to P4,980, depending on their basic pay and longevity pay.
