Out with the old, in with the new

Noontime show “Happy Yipee Yehey” ended on a positive note on Saturday by crowning  16-year-old Koreen Medina of Quezon City as winner of the segment “My Girl.”
Medina not only bagged the top plum of P1-million cash prize and a Star Magic contract, she also took home a brand new car and a diamond ring worth P100,000 for being the Texter’s Choice, P50,000 cash prize for the Best Swimsuit award, and another P50,000 for Best in Costume.

The 16-year-old contender won the vote of pageant judges Joey Marquez, Richard Gomez, Lara Quigaman, Jonas Gaffud and Dr. Vicky Belo.
At the end of the show, the “HYY” hosts, together with their production team, gave a parting message to the viewers who have been with them since February last year.
“'HYY’s' farewell may have saddened us, but we accepted and embraced the changes. Let us support ABS-CBN’s noontime block that continues to spread happiness and hope to every Filipino family,” John Prats said.
Before the show finally bid goodbye, Randy Santiago, John Estrada and Rico J. Puno, together with the other hosts and the rest of the production staff, tearfully sang “Matapos Man Ang Kailanman."
‘Showtime’ on new time slot
As the saying goes, when something ends, a new one begins and this is what “Showtime” got as the show was elevated into a noontime show starting Monday. Along with it, the show took on a new name: “It’s Showtime.”
According to ABS-CBN’s statement, the show’s trademark talent search element will continue to be the noontime show’s highlight. But apart from that, the show promises new segments and gimmicks.
For instance, Vice Ganda will be hosting his own videoke showdown segment.
The statement also revealed that they will be using new songs, outfits, and jokes in the show. While Karylle said all of them will "shine" in their own segments, which were created based on the hosts’ respective talents and strengths.
Another surprise for the viewers to look forward to is the show's game that offers a whopping jackpot prize of P500,000 to its participants.
Other than the new games, "Showtime" also took on board new members of their family from their previous guest hurados namely Coleen Garcia, Ryan Bang, Jhong Hilario and Philippine Volcanoes member Eric Tai.
Vhong Navarro said: “I hope Filipinos will continue to embrace us the way they did when we were still in the morning time slot.”
