Shalani and Roman to donate portion of wedding budget to 'Sendong' victims
Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad and her fiancé Pasig Congressman Roman Romulo’s wedding will be a “simple” and “private” affair, with the couple donating a portion of their wedding budget to victims of typhoon Sendong that ravaged northern Mindanao just before Christmas.
Touted as “Wedding of the Year,” the ceremony will be held on Jan. 22 at the Saint Benedict Church in Silang, Cavite. Coincidentally, members of the Roman family are said to be devotees of Saint Benedict – “patron saint laban sa lahat ng kasamaan,” according to the report.
Reporter Mario Dumaual related, “Sa unang kita pa lang nina Shalani at Roman sa simbahan ng Saint Benedict dito sa Silang, Cavite, na-in love na agad ang dalawa at kaagad binook ang wedding dito.”
However, he added, “Nais panatilihin ng church volunteers ang katahimikan ng lugar sa inaasahang pagdagsa ng media.”
Wedding details
Soledad and Romulo’s wedding will reportedly adapt a green and lavender color motif, which are said to be among the lucky colors in 2012.
Famous Pinoy designer Inno Sotto has been tapped to create the lady councilor’s gown, while Dennis Lustico does the gowns of the bridal entourage.
“Shalani's wedding gown will be soft, delicate and simple with minimal beading- suggestive of her personality. Very feminine, she didn't want anything fussy--it's her!” Sotto was quoted as saying in a separate report on abs-cbnnews.com posted Tuesday.
Among the wedding sponsors are Shalani’s former boss, Sen. Panfilo Lacson; Department of Foreign Affairs Sec. Albert del Rosario, former congressman and Sen. Manny Villar’s wife Cynthia, and TV5 chairman/telecom magnate Manny V. Pangilinan.
A separate wedding reception for the couple’s constituents in Pasig and Valenzuela is also being planned.
The couple intends to have their honeymoon in Rome.
