Shalani and Roman to donate portion of wedding budget to 'Sendong' victims

Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad and her fiancé Pasig Congressman Roman Romulo’s wedding will be a “simple” and “private” affair, with the couple donating a portion of their wedding budget to victims of typhoon Sendong that ravaged northern Mindanao just before Christmas.

'Sendong' casualties surpass 'Ondoy's' 747

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Executive Director Benito Ramos said the death toll from tropical storm “Sendong,” one of the worst to hit the country, breached the 1,000 mark on Tuesday.

The death toll has already surpassed the 747 deaths during the onslaught of “Ondoy” in 2009.
