Sharon speaks up on 1B-peso, KC-Piolo issues
Sharon Cuneta finally addressed the rumor that her five-year contract with TV5 is worth a staggering one billion pesos.
Neither confirming nor denying the speculation, the Megastar said, “Nung umiyak ako minsan sabi ko, ako ‘yung walang presyo eh. ‘Yung parang iyak na lang ako ng iyak,” in a taped interview with Cristy Fermin aired on “Paparazzi” on Nov. 27.
She continued, “It was really, ‘yung sinabi ko, the kind of freedom I was looking for. Freedom in terms of artistic, you know, creative control, ganyan. Pero more than that, totoo ‘yun ‘nay [referring to Cristy], talagang…
In another part of the interview, Sharon said, “‘Yung mismong package, hindi naman ‘yun ‘yung eto ‘yung package mo at eto kalaki ang kikitain mo. Ang importante sa ‘kin ‘yung… ang meaning nun ‘nay, ‘di ba, ‘Naniniwala kami sa’yo.’”
Sharon was with ABS-CBN for many years before she officially jumped ship last week to the Kapatid network. According to her, she weighed things very carefully before arriving at a decision to leave her former mother station.
“‘Yung pagmamahal ko sa dati kong pamilya, hindi na mawawala ‘yun kasi 23 years po ‘yun at mahigit po sa kalahati ng buhay ko. I just felt… ‘yung timing siguro ang tumama. I was ready for big changes na, tapos bigla namang may dumating. Eto na, meron ng solid na offer…
“So binuo na hanggang, sila nila Atty. Ray [Espinosa, TV5 President and CEO] nakabuo na ng… Hanggang sa nung hinarap sa ‘kin… siyempre there were details. Minsan nagmi-meeting kami, umiiyak pa ‘ko. Dahil you know…
“I don’t want to give the impression na hindi ako masaya na lumipat ako. Masaya ako dahil ‘yung pag-welcome nila sa akin dito [ay] very warm,” the Megastar shared.
Sharon on KC and Piolo’s breakup
A few hours before Sharon’s eldest daughter KC finally admitted her break-up with Piolo Pascual via a taped interview with Boy Abunda on “The Buzz," the Megastar shared her feelings about talks that the two have already severed romantic ties between them.
And I respect anybody that works hard, and he [Piolo] has worked hard for his name.
“Ang akin is they’re adults. They got into a relationship and pareho namang, kumbaga ‘yung anak ko naman hindi naman ‘yan bulag pumasok. Hindi maiiwasan ‘yun because they leave the relationship out in the public, hindi maiiwasan ‘yung katulad nung lumalabas ngayon [na] si KC ‘di ba, medyo may interviews siya na may lumalabas na umiiyak daw ‘yung anak ko. Hindi maiiwasan na gano’n kasi since parang from the beginning, involved nila ‘yung mga tao, inamin niya ‘di ba.
“Parang… pampubliko. Parang you have to… hindi naman pwedeng ‘kasi gano’n,’ tapos. Imposible namang hindi masakit, so pagbigyan na lang siguro na merong mga feelings na gano’n at hindi maiwasang lalabas. Malasakit sa ibang tao, ‘yung pagnanais niya na mag-protekta pa rin. Kasi nga they had something. So ako I respect that. Hinihingi ko lang na respetuhin din nila ‘yung anak ko. ‘Yun lang,” she finished.
I’m afraid of you.”
The female host prodded, “Oo. Hindi ko nga ikaw hihingan ng opinyon, pero alam mo ‘yun I’m sure,” to which the actress replied, “Marami ka namang maririnig. Like I said, ang hirap namang pumatol sa lahat ng chismis ‘di ba?”
After the taped interview was aired, the “Paparazzi” hosts shared their thoughts on Sharon’s reaction about the question on Piolo’s sexuality.
“Makahulugan minsan ‘yung mga salitang hindi sinasabi kaysa sa lumalabas sa ating bibig,” Cristy said.
Ruffa Gutierrez opined, “Pero the Megastar is really a class act. Talagang ayaw niyang manira ng kapwa, she respects KC and her relationship.”
For his part, Zoren Legazpi said, “Pero kung babasahin mo ng mas malalim, ‘yung tawa ni Ms. Sharon Cuneta, nando’n na lahat nung sagot.” He then imitated Sharon’s laugh and said, “Ayun na ‘yon. Nandun na eh.”
Asked by Mo Twister what he thought about that specific issue, Zoren – who Mo himself has given his “Boy Laglag” title to earlier in the show – answered, “Hindi ko malaglag si ano kasi brother-in-law ‘yan ng best friend ni Carmina [his wife].”
This prompted the TV/radio host to ask him further, “So may dapat ilaglag?”
“Ah… Ibig sabihin ‘yung usap-usapan dahil merong mga interview kasi. According dun sa interview ni KC, maraming na-cut or something like that,” he shared, referring to KC’s “The Buzz” interview aired a few hours after “Paparazzi.”
Cristy added, “Oo. Yung [question kay KC na] ‘Is it because of…’ gano’n, umiling. ‘Is it because of…’ gano’n, hindi. ‘Is it because of…’ may binanggit na pangalan, dun siya umiyak.
“Kasi 'andito [touches the heart area] ‘yun eh ‘di ba? At saka kung may alam ka rin, kasi ‘yun nga brother-in-law ng ganyan-ganyan ‘di ba?” said she.
Ruffa, who refused to comment about the issue, spoke afterward, saying, “Naku, ako wala akong alam! Si Piolo naman kasi ano, ‘di ba, partner ko dun sa Century Properties. Wala lang, no comment lang ako.”
