Mommy D stands up for Manny amid controversial win against Marquez
No amount of stress can prevent Dionisia Pacquiao from defending her son Manny Pacquiao from the negative feedback he got following his controversial match with Juan Manuel Marquez.
She maintained in a taped interview aired on ABS-CBN’s “Umagang Kay Ganda,” Nov. 16 that, “Maraming puntos si Manny.”
Mommy Dionisia, dubbed as the “Pambansang Pacmom,” likewise declared, “Hindi man kami naapektuhan kasi ganyan ang taga-ibang bansa, hindi nakatanggap kahit talo na sila.”
She is currently recuperating after she got sick due to stress, which is contrary to rumors that she had a nervous breakdown or a serious illness.
“Bawal daw akong magsalita palagi, kay ma-stress... Stress lang, sobrang pagod. Sabi ni dok pahinga muna ako. Sobra man gud ako magsayaw taga every Tuesday, three hours,” she related, chuckling at the end of her statement.
Although she was feeling weak at the time of Manny’s Nov. 12 (US time) fight with the “Dinamita” of Mexico and wasn’t able to join her co-prayer warriors in church, Mommy Dionisia assured that she prayed for the boxing champ.
“Kahit nahirapan ako magluhod, kahit nakaupo lang ako, wala akong tigil na magdasal [para] sa anak ko,” said she.
Mommy Dionisia also apologized to the public for being evasive to the media for days now and could only grant a phone interview.
She also hopes that amid all the hullaballoo surrounding her son’s most recent fight, his fans will continue to support him.
The boxer-congressman is set to return to the country on Nov. 18 from Los Angeles, California, and a hero’s welcome in Sarangani and his hometown General Santos City, as well as in Manila, await him.
