'Impostor' lands Emmy 2011 nomination
ABS-CBN’s adaptation of the pocketbook series Precious Hearts Romances, “Impostor” has been nominated in the 2011 International Emmy Awards, ABS-CBN News reported.
“Precious Hearts Romances Presents Impostor,” which starred Maja Salvador, Sam Milby, Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco, will be competing for the Best Telenovela category.
The Philippine entry will come up against Argentina’s “Contra las Cuerdas,” Brazil’s “Destiny River” and Portugal’s “Lacos de Sangue,” according to the International Emmy Awards’ website.
The Kapamilya network is the only Philippine media company that gained nomination for the Emmys, happening on November 18 to 21 in New York. The International Emmy Awards is given by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS).
Dyogi also revealed that “Impostor” has been nominated for “its appeal and concept that appeals to the international market.”
The TV series, inspired by the pocketbook series written by Martha Cecilia, aired from May to August 2010. It was directed by Jerome Pobocan and Neal del Rosario. “Impostor” tells the story of a provincial lass-turned-well-known model.
“Impostor” also won a silver medal for Best Print Art Direction in the Promax/BDA Awards in New York recently, ABS-CBN News reported.
Apart from “Impostor,” other ABS-CBN programs that earned Emmy nominations were “Dahil May Isang Ikaw” (Best Telenovela, 2010), “Kahit Isang Saglit” (Best Telenovela, 2009), “Bandila” (Best News, 2007) and just recently “TV Patrol” for its coverage of the Manila hostage crisis (Best News, 2011).
Angel Locsin was also nominated as Best Actress for her role in “Lobo” (“She Wolf”) in 2009, as well as Sid Lucero for “Dahil May Isang Ikaw” (Best Actor, 2010).
