SSP Website of the Month and Community Choice Awardee (May 2009): Lupon Vocational High School
Lupon Vocational High School (LVHS) aims to “provide higher levels of academic excellence which implies the highest standards of knowledgeable and conduct which shall develop competent upright, knowledgeable, productive and socially aware individuals.”
To realize this goal, LVHS offer specialization curricula in technical-vocational fields. A significant subject in the LVHS curriculum is the Internet and Computer Fundamentals where students are trained on computing and web technology.
One proof of LVHS’ efforts in integrating ICT in its curriculum is the development of their school website, the winner of the Website of the Month and Community Choice awards for the Smart Schools Program’s (SSP) Website Competition.
LVHS teachers and students worked together to develop the LVHS website which is hosted for free by SSP. The LVHS website contains news and updates about the school and other pertinent information for the school’s teachers, students, and alumni.
The SSP “Website of the Month” Competition is SSP website’s rewards and recognition program for the SSP-hosted websites. Nominated websites are evaluated based on the content, website design, involvement of teachers and students, and website maintenance.
A “Community Choice Award” is also given to the nominee with the most number of votes earned in the Smart Schools Online Poll. For May 2009, the LVHS website, which earned a total of 150 votes in the online poll conducted from May 1-29, emerged as the most favorite school website. Other nominated websites for May were: Naga City Science High School, 2 votes; Aparri School of Arts and Trades, 1; Mt. Province General Comprehensive High School, 1; and Jose B.
