Binibining Pilipinas candidates got talent
Some of the official candidates of the Binibining Pilipinas 2012 pageant strutted their special skills during the talent competition held at the activity area of Ali Mall last Feb 24.
The prestigious beauty search in the country presented the ladies who were brave enough to showcase their talents in front of a discriminating board of judges composed of ABS-CBN's Special Events Chit Guerrero, ABS-CBN choreographer Joan Laygo, talent manager Arnold Vegafria, Kapamilya talent and tv/stage actress Denise Laurel, artist Betsy Westendorp-Brias, fashion designer Eddie Ocampo and ABS-CBN's Creative Director Cris Violago. BPCI Chair Stella Marquez Araneta headed the very discriminating board.
The girls performed a variety of art forms ranging from singing, dancing, declaiming, and playing musical instruments. In between these engaging presentations, Filipino-American "Search for Star in a Million" champ Kris Lawrence entertained the afternoon audience with a number with Denise Laurel.
In the same way that winning the swimsuit competition isn't about having the best figure but exuding confidence in every step, the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 talent competition zooms in on the girl who displays the best stage presence while wowing the audience with their skill. Last year, it was Ms. Universe-Philippines Shamcey Supsup who aced the competition with her sketch of a mother and child skillfully done to the tune of a three-minute classical piece. This year, Shamcey hosted the talent show herself.
The talent competition is just one of several activities of the candidates before the coronation night. Among the forthcoming activities is the much-awaited fashion show to be staged at the Ali Mall Activity area on March 17. These pre-pageant activities will be aired in full during the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Primer on ABS-CBN's Sunday's Best on April 8. The winner of the Talent Competition will be known during pageant night on April 15.
The Binibining Pilipinas 2012 Pageant is presented by the Araneta Center Inc., Smart Araneta Coliseum and ABS-CBN. Major sponsors include Pizza Hut, Megaworld Corporation, Philippine Airlines and the Manila Bulletin.
