Sharon confronts KC-Piolo issue and her P1-billion TV5 contract

Although her voice was a little hoarse because of cough, the same bubbly and extra cheerful Sharon Cuneta greeted the press when she held what she called her “homecoming press conference with Viva” last Tuesday at the Discovery Suites in Ortigas Center.
Sharon is promoting her “Once In A Lifetime” back-to-back concert with Martin Nievera slated Feb. 11 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. She said it is an honor for her to perform with Martin whom she repeatedly called the Concert King.
She said she and Martin have been friends a long time, him being a Ninong to her youngest Miel. “This concert is really a once in a lifetime event. It is my first time ever to do a back-to-back concert with someone and I’m really glad it is with Martin,” she said adding that she always believed that their voices match.
Sharon is quite elated by the song that Martin wrote for their show together. “It is very special. The music is by Vehnee Saturno and we did a music video together for this song.”
Sharon also happily reported that on Feb. 14, “Once In A Lifetime” will be performed at the Cebu Waterfront Hotel to all their fans there. “They need not go to Manila to watch Martin and I for this show. We will be there on Valentine’s Day,” she said.
“Once In A Lifetime” has Louie Ocampo as musical director while Rowell Santiago is stage director.
During the open forum, Sharon gamely answered all questions thrown her way.
How she celebrated her birthday: “[With] Mommy Elaine, my husband, my kids and Juday and her kids. Ryan had an appointment somewhere. It was very quiet, kami-kami lang talaga.”
On the rumor that her adopted son Miguel is really the son of her husband Sen. Kiko Pangilinan with another woman: “It’s not true. Mabait akong tao pero parang may giyera munang mangyayari kung ganon nga bago ninyo mabalitaan na inampon ko ang bata.”
On the movie with Gabby Concepcion: “Mas malinaw ang possibility niyan kesa dun sa movie namin ni KC. Right now, Boss Vic, Sandra (Chavez, her manager), and I have been talking about a director already. Baka sa March ito magsimula.”
On KC’s break-up with Piolo Pascual: “I’ll be a hypocrite if I say na hindi nabawasan ang pagmamahal ko kay Piolo or ganun pa rin siya kaimportante sa akin. Hindi naman siya nagpakita sa amin from the start of the relationship til the end. Doon pa lang may tampo na ako. Masakit ang loob ko dahil nasaktan at umiyak ang anak ko. But I respect him for what he has achieved in his life as an actor.”
How KC is after the break-up and why she chose to stay with ABS-CBN: “KC is wonderful. She is happier now and she’s doing fine. We are closer and we took trips together over the holidays. We left for Japan last Dec. 25 and then we were in Hong Kong naman during New Year’s Day. About her career, I don’t make pakialam naman eversince. I just come in to troubleshoot. She is still with ABS although we all think that her leaving Star Magic is a very sound decision kahit mahal na mahal naman ang anak ko doon. Para lang matigil na ang mga usapan at intriga na may pinapaboran or conflict of interest or who is the priority. Mabuti na ang ganun. And she is being handled by the best, Boss Vic is now her manager, who also handles Ann Curtis and Sarah Geronimo.”
On her P1-billion fee from TV5: “Divide that in five years, and you will see that the amount is not naman too far from what I have been getting before them. Boss Vic has presented me with new opportunities to grow in this business and I have always wanted to produce naman that’s why we set up Mega Productions. We will be partners in the shows and even movies that we will be making with TV 5. There is a talk of a fun show, musical that will best showcase who I am; a reality show-talent search; a soap will be welcome although hindi napag-uusapan; a sitcom also is welcome.”
That the TV5 deal was clinched only because Manny Pangilinan is close to her husband: “Iyan ang ayaw ko masabi ng mga tao. I am not very close to MVP although my husband’s family is. But if the station thinks I am worth it, who am I to disagree?”
On the possibility of her and KC’s show competing for ratings: “Huwag naman sana pero we are slaves to our networks. Pero huwag naman sana sabay.”
