Mayweather insists on May 5 date with Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather Jr. taunted Filipino boxing pride Manny Pacquiao anew via Twitter today (Wednesday).
"January 16th was Dr. Martin Luther King Birthday, January 17th is Muhammad Ali Birthday and May 5th is Pacquiao ass whooping day," he posted.
Only last week, the loquacious boxer fired off a barrage of tweets challenging Pacquiao to face him May 5.

“Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see,” he said.
“Step up Punk,” he added.
The rush was not without reason. Apparently, the date was used by Mayweather's lawyers to defer their client's  impending jail sentence.
Last month, Mayweather pleaded guilty to domestic battery and no contest to two counts of harassment for assaulting the mother of three of his children and threatening his two sons on September 2010.
A Las Vegas judge on Friday delayed the 90-day jail term after his lawyer argued that the sentence would interfere with training for the boxing champ's upcoming May 5 bout.
Problem is, they didn’t have an actual fight scheduled. And so it was that Mayweather took to blabbering on Twitter challenging Pacquiao.
Boxing fans have long been calling to have Mayweather and Pacquiao face each other in the ring and for more than two years now. Unfortunately, negotiations for the same keep stalling due to a variety of demands that Mayweather keep on insisting.
Recall that some few years back, he declined having to face Pacquiao demanding that the later should undergo Olympic-style drug tests first. When Pacquiao agreed, Mayweather went on to tell the latter that the fight could only happen if The Pacman agreed to a 60-40 share of the purse.
That’s when the Pacquiao camp balked maintaining that they should, at the very least, be allowed a 50-50 split.
“Pag pumayag siya wala naman problema, anytime anywhere,” Pacquiao said in interviews.
In his recent tweet, Mayweather attacked Top Rank chief executive officer Bob Arum.
"I'm ready to fight Pacquiao 5/5/12...  Bob Arum know the date can't change, I have my guarantee... call Schaefer & Al and stop lying to the public," he said.
The statement alludes to Arum’s declaration last week that there was no promoter eager to guarantee the May 5 date.
The Schaefer identified in the post is  Richard Schaefer, chief executive officer of Golden Boy Promotions. The Al on the other hand is Al Haymon, Mayweather’s adviser.
"First They say I'm Ducking the Fight. But now it seems like I'm begging for the fight. What is going on?" Mayweather added.
Pacquiao has no official statement about the matter as of this writing.
