Did Cristine Reyes marry Rayver Cruz in secret?

Something from the past year is still catching up with be-dimpled actress Cristine Reyes. Still talking about the things they’ve done to celebrate the coming of the New Year, Cristine sat with “The Buzz” hosts Boy Abunda and Toni Gonzales on Jan. 15 to treat the audience to some stories about her vacation with boyfriend Rayver Cruz.
But more than the anecdotes she would share, showbiz watchers are more interesting in Cristine’s answer to a nagging rumor that she and Rayver had secretly tied the knot abroad. This, of course, surfaced because of the couple’s out of the country jaunt together.

To this, Cristine said, “Grabe naman talaga, nagpunta lang ng New York, nagpakasal na!”
Asked to elaborate what they really did while they were out of the country, Cristine related, “Nag-celebrate lang kami ng New Year. Siyempre, first time naming mag-out of the country together, tapos first time naming mag-celebrate without our family. So, in-enjoy naming ‘yung moment. At kakatapos lang nung show namin na ‘Reputasyon,’ so ‘yun ‘yung vacation namin, ‘yun ‘yung treat namin para sa sarili namin.”
Getting to know you
People say you have to live with a person in order to know who he/she really is. But traveling with them may be just as good as any to get more insight into their real personality. For Cristine, her first time with Rayver—traveling, that is—allowed her a small revelation.
“In fairness, parang si Rayver na-adopt niya ‘yung pagiging independent ko. Kasi siyempre ‘pag nagta-travel siya abroad, nandiyan ‘yung handler niya—si Ate Luz—so asikaso siya sa lahat. So dito, parang sabi ko, ‘Bi, ano ha, independent tayo. Kailangan ‘yung mga importanteng bagay nasa iyo palagi,’ so bitbit niya palagi. Kasi naalala ko, nag out of the country sila nina Billy [Crawford], nina Zanjoe [Marudo], ‘yung passport niya naiwan ata sa hotel, ‘yung ganun siya.”
And it seems striking a slight fear into the heart of her man is her way of making ‘lambing,’ Cristine happily shared,  “‘Saka tinatakot ko siya! Kasi first time niya sa New York, ‘di ba, ‘Iiwanan kita rito, sige mawawala ka!’”
Another lesson learned for the showbiz couple that obviously live quite the privileged lifestyle here in the country was, as she related, “Natuto kaming maglakad! Kasi dito sa Pilipinas, ‘di ba, kahit diyan lang sa kanto ‘yung pupuntahan mo magko-kotse ka pa, magdi-jeep ka pa.” The hosts concur, saying taking a cab and parking fees are super expensive, and the traffic is almost always heavy.
To those who’ve never been
For people who have never gone and celebrated such a significant holiday out of the country, or anywhere exciting for that matter, they don’t need to fret. The live segment of Cristine’s interview let audiences live her and Rayver’s experiences vicariously.
In the video clip shown prior to the interview, it was said that the showbiz couple flew to New York on Dec. 30 to enjoy the much-needed R&R. While there, they went on a super exciting New Year’s Eve date at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater to watch a staging of “The Addams Family,” with special guest, Brooke Shields, who essayed the role of Morticia  (“Hindi ko alam na siya yun, nalaman ko na lang nung ending,” Cristine would say later in the live interview portion).
The couple was also shown enjoying some street food from a Halal cart in the streets of New York, as well as visits to the resto chain, Shake Shack. And, apparently, their “ultimate experience” during their Big Apple trip was watching the Time Square Ball “dropped” for the New Year’s countdown.
On welcoming the New Year
May mga Pinoy na tumulong sa amin,” adding, “Ate Tess, hello, thank you so much!”
"Kahit hindi namin sila kilala, [babati sila ng] ‘Happy New Year,’ parang kilalang-kilala namin kasi pare-pareho kaming nag-celebrate don. So nakaka-iyak din.”
Perhaps marking the turn of the year on a positive note would rub off and keep Cristine’s career and love life on the upswing for the whole of 2012.
