Celebs give new DOT campaign slogans the thumbs up

Local celebrities took to Twitter Jan. 6 to express their full support for the recently launched international and domestic campaign slogans of the Department of Tourism, “It’s more fun in the Philippines,” and “#1 for fun,” respectively.
TV host-columnist Bianca Gonzalez posted on Friday morning, “i like it, simply because its true! its more fun in the philippines!!!! :)”
“the new tourism campaign just made pinoys living abroad miss the philippines even more. because its more fun in the philippines!,” she added.
Musician Jim Paredes deemed that the slogan embodies traits inherent to Filipinos.
“#ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines I like it! It's honest, simple, straight to the point. It is abt who we are.Masaya tayo talaga kahit ano pa,” he posted.
He also said that the line is something he hears “from FilAm kids who visit PHL. I think it’s a claim we can make.”
For Erwan Heussaff, the chef-boyfriend of TV host-actress Anne Curtis, the slogans are “Very pinoy, chill, yet has an international message.now they need to push the campaign.”
Broadcast journalist Karen Davila, meanwhile, urged everyone, “…we HAVE to BE FUN...not NEGA! Hahaha :) Happiness people!”
Young actress Maxene Magalona quoted some lines from a song by her father, the late Master Rapper Francis Magalona, thus: "Bless the man if his heart and his land are one.. The three stars and the sun!" -- FrancisM #1forFun #itsmorefuninthePHILIPPINES”
She also urged everyone to “Stop hating and start appreciating! All for Juan, Juan for fun! #itsmorefuninthePHILIPPINES #1forFun”
The slogan seemed to have launched an online movement, with netizens tweeting about the "fun" and unique aspects of the country, its culture and people. Celebrities, of course, gamely joined the slogan bandwagon.
Anne Curtis, who successfully penetrated the recording scene last year, said, “#ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines because us pinoys all love to sing! Marunong man o hindi, sige lang! Kanta lang! Videoke! Karaoke! Gooooooo!”
She also tweeted, “Through hardships and heartaches a filipino will always give you a sincere smile #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines ♥”
Her current squeeze, Erwan, also has his own take on the matter. Two of his tweets read:
“Asia without the uptightness and shyness #itsmorefuninthephilippines”
“Asia without the language barrier. #itsmorefuninthephilippines”
TV host-eventologist Tim Yap declared that the Philippines has “the most talented people in the world.”
“Well-trained, because #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines,” he added.
Jim, one-third of the OPM group Apo Hiking Society, quipped that in the country, “Pati circumcision mas masaya.. LOL.”
He went on to say, "’It's more fun in the Philippines’, Pasko, night life, beaches, shopping, eating, fiesta, birthday, kasal, pati lamay actually. #1ForFUN.”
“#ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines -- at mas mura pa!!”
TV host-actor Luis Manzano, meanwhile, tweeted, “where people love singing foreign songs they barely understand #itsmorefuninthephlippines” and “where your neighbor knows more about you than your family#itsmorefuninthephlippines.”
Even esteemed journalists participated in the movement, such as Ces Drilon, who posted, “#itsmorefuninthephilippines is not just about the sights but the people too! dont we always rank high in the worldwide happiness survey?”
“Ang Pinoy, mayaman sa ngiti at malasakit ♥ #itsmorefuninthephilippines,” tweeted Kara David.
The hashtag #itsmorefuninthephilippines zoomed to the top spot of Twitter's worldwide trending topics on Friday morning.
