Talk of the town: Gerald Anderson as Budoy
Talk of the town: Gerald Anderson as Budoy is the talk of the town for his acting.
The young actor’s turnaround performance of a mentally challenged person in ABS-CBN’s new nightly series has been fetching waves of positive feedback everywhere. People are saying Gerald has truly come into his own as an actor, a darn good one.
With “Budoy,” the former “PBB” housemate also otherwise known as the other half of the Kimerald loveteam can claim dramatic stardom on his own terms. No longer the boy with just the bubblegum image, Gerald as Budoy is quite moving, reducing audiences to tears in many of his scenes with his screen mother, Janice de Belen.
“Budoy” is the story of a boy born into a rich family but whose relatives, led by a wicked lady played by Barbara Perez, gives him up for adoption just because he was born special.
It is a far cry from Gerald’s previous roles in teleseryes such as “Sana Maulit Muli,” “My Girl,” “Tayong Dalawa” and “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.”
