'No Other Woman' declared highest-grossing Filipino film of all time

The story of a young couple’s marital woes caused by a mistress proved very appealing to moviegoers, as underscored by Star Cinema’s “No Other Woman” breaking records at the box-office.
“Binagyo pero bumasag pa rin ng record ang ‘No Other Woman’ bilang highest-grossing Filipino film of all time,” the report on “TV Patrol” said, Oct. 12.
“Base sa box-office returns, tinatayang pumalo na sa P220 million pesos ang kinita ng ‘No Other Woman’ sa ikatlong linggo nito sa mga sinehan. Nilampasan na ng pelikula nina Derek Ramsay, Anne Curtis at Cristine Reyes ang top-grossing film nina Sarah Geronimo at John Lloyd Cruz na ‘You Changed My Life,’ na kumita ng 209 million pesos noong 2009,” the report added.
According to an expert, the movie’s theme and the showdown of its sexy stars clicked with the moviegoers.
Ed Lejano of the UP Film Institute shared the reasons the movie was such a monster hit at the box-office.
“It’s witty. It’s campy. It’s sexy. It’s melodrama. You know, all the ingredients are there,” Lejano explained.
Overwhelmed by her movie’s success, Anne Curtis who plays resort heiress and the other woman, enthused, “‘Yung mga nanonood walang specific market. Ang dami. Parang lahat—magkakabarkada, pamilya, all girls, all boys, mag-boyfriend, mag-asawa—lahat nanood.  So parang nakakatuwa na I know the market cause I’m the market. Nakakatuwa na ‘yung market is everyone talaga.”
Curtis also took to Twitter to express her gratitude to those who watched their movie.
“Thank you to everyone that watched ‘No Other Woman’ it's because of YOU our movie is now the highest grossing Filipino film of all time. Maraming salamat sa pagsuporta ng pelikulang pilipino! Congratulations to our whole team!!! Pats on the back for everyone! @IAmDerekRamsay @EVAFONDA2008,” Curtis posted on Oct. 12.
Cristine (@EVAFONDA2008) likewise thanked their fans for supporting their movie.
“NO OTHER WOMAN is now the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time. THANK YOU LORD GOD FOR EVERYTHING. nothing is impossible with you. thanks viva films & star cinema! Anne, derek & dir.ruel bayani. And ofcourse madlang people maraming salamat :),” Reyes tweeted on the same day.
