Antoinette Taus gets new lease in career via vocal group
Former teenybopper actress Antoinette Taus, once known for engaging acting work as seen in landmark shows “T.G.I.S.” (1995) and “Anna Karenina” (1996), has reinvigorated her showbiz career by hooking up with vocal group Kinfolk 9 that's currently competing in the NBC show, “The Sing-Off.”
The American talent show series is already on its third season and it is hosted by Jessica Simpson’s ex, Nick Lachey. The judges for the show include Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman (member of recent Manila visitor, Boyz II Men), and Sara Bareilles.
She also mentioned having attended a recent party related to the contest – not failing to point out that it was held in a venue that features DJ Tommy T.
DJ Tommy T is none other than Tom Taus, her younger brother, who, like her, tried to carve a name for himself as an actor in the Philippines some eons ago. Among the memorable movies that the younger Taus appeared in include “Cedie” and “Batang Z,” both in 1996.
Kinfolk 9 has been described in the show as "a professional group out of L.A. with members who all have the ability to share lead vocals."
The nine-member group is competing for the $100,000 cash prize plus a recording contract with Sony Music. The other contestants are Afro-Blue, The Cat's Pajamas, The Collective, Dartmouth Aires, Delilah, The Deltones, Fannin Family, Messiah's Men, North Shore, Pentatonix, Sonos, Soul'd Out, Urban Method, Vocal Point and The YellowJackets.
At least one celebrity has responded to Taus’ gleeful re-emergence.
"Congratulations & good luck sis!!!" tweeted actress and “Showtime” co-host Anne Curtis.
