Mariel grateful for Robin's undying determination to fulfill her 'wish'

Though  visibly caught off guard when asked about her husband Robin Padilla’s plan to bring her to Vatican to have their union sanctified by the Catholic Church, TV host Mariel Rodriguez, nevertheless, expressed gratefulness for his zeal.

“Nagpapasalamat ako kasi hindi nawawala sa utak niya (Robin) lahat ng napagusapan namin,” she said on "The Buzz," June 26.

“Surprise nga daw 'yun. Tapos may nagsabi sa akin na taga ‘E-Live’ tapos sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Babe, someone wanted to interview me today, they said we’re going to the Vatican?’” she shared.

“Siyempre gulatan, pero hindi ako nagcomment kasi sabi ko, ‘Sandali ah, hindi pa namin napapagusapan yan,’” said Rodriguez.

Recall that the couple’s thrice-postponed Catholic wedding was originally set for December 2010. It was later moved to February 2011 but due to their busy schedule filming the movie “Tum: My Pledge of Love” in India, it was postponed again to June this year.

But, that, too, was canceled following the assessment of retired Lingayen Archbishop Oscar Cruz that their planned June wedding will likely not be allowed because of the contrasting doctrines of the Catholic Church and Islam.

“I’m really happy for my religion, more so, for him,” Rodriguez concluded during “The Buzz” interview.
Rodriguez hopes time would be on their side in the pursuit of their Catholic marriage.

“Basta sana lang makakuha siya ng bakasyon (for them to be able to go to Vatican). Gusto rin 'yun ng mga Muslim, gusto din 'yun ng mga Katoliko na maging halimbawa kami ng walang problema at walang isyu ang religion,” Padilla told “E-Live” in an episode aired on June 25.

According to a “Showbiz News Ngayon” report that aired May 17, Padilla knows someone in the Vatican who might be able to help them.

“May nakilala akong pari sa Vatican. Alam ko matutulungan niya ako. Mas maganda pumunta doon kasi kapag sumulat ka hindi mo alam kung saan pupunta na naman ‘yung sulat, eh,” Robin said.

Asked when he plans to go to the Vatican, Robin quipped, “Kaagad.”

“Sana itong taon na ito bago dumating ang Pasko,” he added on “SNN.”
