Contrary to what the earlier “Spider-Man” trilogy [starring Tobey Maguire] would have non-comic book readers think, Mary Jane Watson wasn’t the only girl in Peter Parker’s heart. In fact, based on the storyline in the comic books, the blonde college student Gwen Stacy [who first appeared in print in “The Amazing Spider-Man” #31] had been Peter’s “first love.” But unless you have all the time in the world to untangle the complicated web of Peter’s love life and argue this matter, suffice it to say that Gwen Stacy finally gets her rightful screen time with Peter after appearing as a minor character in the Maguire-starrer “Spider-Man 3.”

Influenced by their affinity for Muppet mayhem, the filmmakers of Disney's “The Muppets” introduces Walter, a central character who’s driven by his lifelong love of the Muppets.

According to lead actor Jason Segel, Walter’s wildest fantasy is to meet the Muppets. “Walter is naive, sweet, innocent, wide-eyed—he’s very much like Kermit before Kermit became famous,” says Segel. “But he just wants to belong. He’s looking for a family, really. The Muppets are the only people he’s ever seen who were like him, so his quest is to become one of the Muppets.”

"Harry Potter" Movie sold $92.1 million worth tickets

The eighth and final "Harry Potter" movie sold $92.1 million worth tickets in the United States and Canada on its first day in theaters to set a single-day box-office record, according to studio estimates released on Saturday.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2" shattered the single-day record set in 2009 when "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" earned $72.7 million in theaters, said Paul Dergarabedian, head of tracking firm Hollywood.com Box Office.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

The colossally destructive, almost comically long final battle sequence of Michael Bay's Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Paramount Pictures) culminates in at least a temporary vanquishing of the earth-invading Decepticons by the more human-friendly Autobots. But the entirety of the film stands as proof of robotic life's inevitable triumph over Homo sapiens. Faced with this quantity of hardware, this degree of technical sophistication, this goddamn many robots, organic life doesn't stand a chance. We might as well amuse ourselves with tales of the war between two fictional robot races, now that Michael Bay has taken over the world.

The Governator: New Animated Series of Arnold Schwarzeneger

Arnold Schwarzeneger on cinema screens? Inevitably, he'll be back. While his first post-politics project is a TV cartoon series for kids called The Governator, Schwarzenegger told a press conference at the MipTV conference in Cannes today that the show will spawn comic books, digital content and ultimately a 3D movie.
