Candidates To Start File COCs

Those intending to run in the May 2013 polls will start filing their certificates of candidacy (COC) this Monday

There are 18,053 elective positions to be filled up in next year’s polls when the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and accredited watch groups are likely to face more intense pressures as the country holds its first synchronized political exercises on national, regional and local dimensions.

Of the 18,053 slots, 12 senatorial and 80 party-list representation seats will have to be decided upon by the entire Filipino electorate on a national scale.

Teachers’ Group Seeks Higher Pay For Poll Duties In 2013

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) is seeking higher honorarium for their poll-related duties from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

In an interview, ACT Secretary General France Castro said they are looking for higher payments since the work load of teachers serving as Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) has more than doubled due to the use of the automated election system (AES).

Drug Addicts’ Group Joining 2013 Polls?

A group of drug addicts is applying for party-list accreditation for the 2013 polls at the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said the Samahan ng mga Drug Addict is among the 172 party-list groups that have already filed their registration for accreditation.
