Cash-For-Work Plan Implemented

To help relieve the hardship facing residents of the region following the recent massive floods, the national government last weekend released the funds for cash-for-work beneficiaries in the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.

At least 1,000 beneficiaries, all victims of the recent flash floods caused by tropical “Sendong,” will initially benefit from the cash-for-work program implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

State of national calamity declared

President Benigno S. Aquino III on Tuesday declared a state of national calamity following the devastation brought by tropical storm “Sendong” in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

The President personally visited on Tuesday Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, and Dumaguete City, areas hardest hit by “Sendong.”
