Last-Minute Call For Overseas Filipinos To Register And Vote

With more than 50 days left before voter registration for Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) ends, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued a last-minute call to overseas Filipinos to register for the May 2013 senatorial and party-list polls.

“We are encouraging all the overseas workers to register. We have a deadline and that is on October 31,” Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes III said in an interview.

Sen. Chiz Escudero aims to have FPJ recognized as 2004 presidential polls winner

Senator Francis Escudero is keen on pushing for a posthumous proclamation of Fernando Poe Jr. as the “rightful winner” in the 2004 presidential elections if proven so.

According to GMA News Online’s Dec. 15 report, Chiz will gather sufficient evidence from the Senate Blue Ribbon committee's investigation that would prove the movie star did win the controversial contest against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo."

Arrest warrant for Gloria

A Pasay City court Friday issued a warrant for the arrest of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on charges of electoral sabotage.

Judge Jesus Mupas of the Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 112 issued the warrant after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) filed a case against Mrs. Arroyo, Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan Sr., Lintang Bedol, provincial election supervisor of Maguindanao.

The Comelec alleged that the three conspired to ensure a 12-0 victory for the senatorial candidates of the Arroyo-backed Team Unity in the 2007 election.
