What's On President Aquino's Music Playlist?
What's on President Benigno S. Aquino III's music playlist at home? There's a wide range, except rap.
The President disclosed his love for music as a great source of joy, inspiration, and occasional solace during the launch of a new online music store for Original Pilipino Music (OPM) last Wednesday night.
Aquino graced the inauguration of OPM2Go, the country's version of iTunes where music lovers can buy Filipino music, citing its prospects to boost sales of Filipino music and combat music piracy.
“Noon pa man, musika na ang katuwang natin sa hirap at ginhawa (Music has been my companion through thick and thin),“ the President said in his remarks at the event launch in Eastwood Plaza.
Aquino revealed that he listens to anything from rock, jazz to ballad to suit his different moods. For the love of music, he revealed that he brought his “second-hand audio equipment'' from his residence on Times Street, Quezon City to Bahay Pangarap in Manila.
“Nariyan ang jazz music, kapag gusto nating mag-relax. May Rock N' Roll naman kapag kailangan nating ganahan ng kaunti. Kapag nalulungkot, senti ang pinipili nating background music (I listen to jazz if I want to relax, rock n' roll if i need to energize, and `senti' when I feel sad),“ he said.
Aquino, who is currently dating radio DJ Grace Lee, likewise said he listens to ballads when he's “inspired or in love.“
Aquino's playlist also includes several OPM titles such as Freddie Aguilar, Juan dela Cruz Band, Jose Mari Chan, Apo Hiking Society, Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid.
