'Avengers' On Track To Becoming The Country's Highest-Grossing Film
“Marvel’s The Avengers” is well on its way into becoming the Philippines’ biggest blockbuster having clocked in a Hulk-smashing figure of P100.76 million during its first two days, April 25 and 26.
The number has already surpassed record-holder “Spider-Man 3,” which, in 2007, posted P91.71M on its first two days.
Marvel Studios presents “Marvel’s The Avengers” also has critics buzzing to its favor. Director Joss Whedon made the most of his casting coup in Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston, with Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson. As an unlikely league of heroes, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow made more than a porn of explosives and stunts.
Everybody has been talking about the film that reports of a sequel couldn’t be far behind. In fact, one report claimed that “The Amazing Spider-Man” star Andrew Garfield is set to appear on the “Avengers” sequel. The Marvel web-slinger’s character will reportedly see action with the rest of the Avengers.
The “Avengers” franchise extends to introductory films that includes two previous “Iron Man” movies, “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Thor,” and “The Incredible Hulk” (the one that starred Edward Norton).
(Now playing across the Philippines in Digital IMAX 3D, Digital 3D and regular format, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.)
