Camille Prats has 'accepted' husband's death – manager
Amid grieving over the death of her husband Anthony Linsangan, who passed away on Sept. 23 due to nasopharyngeal cancer, actress Camille Prats bravely faces this trying phase in her life.
Her manager, Arnold Vegafria, told “24 Oras” in an interview aired Friday night, “Accepted niya, matapang naman si Camille. Siyempre andun pa rin ‘yung pain, ‘yung lungkot… [But] let’s pray nalang for the soul of Anthony and ipag-pray rin natin si Camille.”
“It’s a family thing. It’s something that we want to keep private, na pampamilya na lang muna. But he’s okay now,” she simply said.
Her brother, dancer-actor John Prats, nevertheless revealed some details in PEP's Sept. 24 report.
Three months after Camille and Anthony’s church wedding (March 2010; they were civilly wedded on Jan. 2008 in Los Angeles, California), Anthony was diagnosed with Stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer, John said. According to Cancer.Net, it is a tumor that develops in the nasopharynx, the “air passageway at the upper part of the pharynx (throat) behind the nose.”
John related the symptoms he observed in Anthony.
"Yung jaw niya, parang may bukol. Then ‘yung hearing niya sa left side, naapektuhan. Nung na-diagnose, ang mag-asawa, full of hope, eh. Parang, 'tara, gamutin natin ito.'
“Hanggang unti-unting inubos si Anthony ng chemo[therapy], radiation, medication, and kumalat ang cancer cells. Umabot na sa spinal [column], bone cancer, hanggang sa lungs niya,” said he in the PEP report.
Despite the severity of his condition, Anthony “stopped medication” and underwent “pain management” three months ago, John added.
"Kasi if he will undergo another level of chemo and radiation, that would kill him agad,” he said.
Until the end, Anthony, whom he described as “maloko,” “very giving,” and “full of hopes and dreams,” courageously held on to life, said John.
"Kagabi (Sept. 22), sobrang weak na siya, ang dami nang nakakabit, gusto pa niyang tumayo. Nung nakita ko siyang tumayo, alam mo ‘yun, [parang sinasabi niya], 'I'll fight.' ‘Yung laban talaga, pero nakikita ko talaga, wala na,” he recalled.
He deemed that Anthony’s death was one of the most painful.
"Yesterday (Sept. 22), I was really praying na, 'Lord, kung kukunin N'yo na siya, kunin N'yo na siya. Sobra, sobra ang pain, eh. Kung ide-describe mo, isipin mo ang pinakamasama o pinakamasakit na death, this is one of them," said John.
The “Happy Yipee Yehey (HYY)” host recalled how his 26-year-old sister broke down with Anthony’s passing.
"Nakita ko nung final view na before siya i-embalsa, nung kino-close na ang body bag, sa one year na nalaman niya hanggang kahapon, dun lang niya nilabas lahat. Kahit sinong artista, walang kayang gumaya ng breakdown niya kanina," he said.
Asked how they explained the situation to Camille and Anthony’s son, three-year old Nathaniel Caesar, John related, "Ang sabi namin, that's daddy's new car. Sabi niya, 'What is he doing? Sleeping again?' Tapos kini-kiss niya at ginigising niya."
Through their lawyer, Atty. Joseph Banguis, Camille and the rest of their family thanked “those who have shown support,” and asked the public for their “humble understanding that they could not appear before you right now,” reported “Saksi” also on Sept. 23.
“At this moment they are still not ready… But when they are ready they are going to have themselves available,” added Atty. Banguis.
Among those who were seen at Anthony’s wake at The Heritage Park in Taguig were Camille’s “Munting Heredera” co-stars Ynez Veneracion and Gabby Eigenmann, as well as her best friend, Angelica Panganiban, “Saksi” reported. PEP also cited John’s “HYY” co-host and rumored girlfriend Bianca Manalo among the attendees.
Details of his burial have yet to be announced as of this writing.
