Baby James allows mom Kris Aquino to 'like' Diether Ocampo
It seems there’s hope for romance to bloom between Kris Aquino and Diether Ocampo as the former’s son, Baby James, has permitted her to “like” the hunk actor.
In the Sept. 22 episode of “Kris TV,” the TV host-actress related to Diether, one of her guests, “Tinanong ko si Bimby, pinapanood ka namin. Sabi ko, ‘Bimb, can Tito Diet become my boyfriend?’ And sinabi niya sa’kin, ‘But why?’ Sabi ko, ‘Oh, okay. Why not?’ ‘Because I love you, Mama. You can like him, but don’t love him,’ [sabi niya]. Okay, so at least may permiso ka na na I can like you.”
“At least nandun na tayo sa level na like. Para tayong 16 [years old], nakakadiri!” Kris exclaimed.
The four-year-old Bimby, in previous interviews, has candidly expressed his opposition for his mother to fall in love again following her failed marriage with his father, James Yap. Kris, meanwhile, maintained she won’t get into another relationship until her marriage with the star cager is annulled.
Diether sang The Calling’s “Wherever You Will Go” in the same episode, dedicating it to Kris, the latest woman to be linked to him.
Towards the end of his performance, Kris said, “bati na tayo.”
Apparently, the two had a misunderstanding, as Kris mentioned in the beginning of the show, “Magkaaway pa kami niyan.”
After his number, Kris asked Diether—whom she fondly calls “D”—“Kanta lang ba ‘yan o totoo ‘yan?
Surprised over the question, the “Guns and Roses” star said, “Kasi kanina niratrat mo ‘ko, hindi ako nakahirit eh.”
He then quipped about the black shades he wore at the beginning of the interview, thus: “Nagsasalamin ako kasi hindi ko alam kung ‘yung sikat ba ng mga ilaw dito sa harap ‘yung nakakasilaw o ‘yung kagandahan mo. Minsan lang ako pumunta sa mga ganitong pagkakataon na walang tulog, diretso na naggi-guest…”
Kris interjected, saying, “Alam ko nga, dahil ang sungit mo ‘pag wala kang tulog!”
“Pag ikaw ang kaharap, pa’no naman ako magiging masungit?” said Diether.
Prodded to answer her question, Diether finally gave in, saying, “Kasi nga, ‘di ba, minsan hindi ko ma-express ‘yung sarili ko... kaya minsan… Kay Maestro (Robin Padilla) ko ‘yan natututunan… Pero pagdating sa kantahan diyan ko nae-express nang maliwanag ‘yung aking nararamdaman.”
Throughout the episode, where he appeared along with his series co-stars Robin Padilla and Bea Alonzo, Kris intimated about her seeming cat-and-dog relationship with Diether. She talked about their botched movie bonding (“shine-share-an ka ng pagkain, tapos ikaw ayaw mong manood ng sine,” Kris said), as well as his late replies to her text messages (“Gusto ko lang na sana pag nagte-text, hindi 36 hours after sasagot,” she also said).
Kris also asked Diether to clarify his supposed statement on “The Buzz” last Sept. 18 about calling her a bump in the road.
“Me? May lubak ba sa buhay ko or ako ba ‘yung lubak?” Kris queried.
“Hindi, hindi ‘yun ang ibig kong sabihin. Sabi ko hindi ka lubak para iwasan. ‘Yun ang ibig kong sabihin no’n…” Diether trailed off.
In wrapping up the episode, Kris addressed a blind item, which she deemed pertained to her and Diether. The said item supposedly claimed that they were seen kissing at a restaurant in Makati three weeks ago.
“We haven’t eaten out, right? And three weeks ago was the Star Magic Ball. I was in Bangkok (Thailand) for work. I-defend mo naman ako,” she told Diether.
“Hindi po totoo ‘yan,” the actor said, adding in jest, “At kung may magaganap mang ganon, hindi niyo makikita.”
“Korek! Salamat!” Kris said.
