Sheriff Abe Andres finally appears in public
Davao City Regional Trial Court (RTC) sheriff Abe Andres finally appeared in public, reiterating he will not file charges against Mayor Sara Duterte, who threw punches at him during a demolition in Sitio Soliman, Barangay Monteverde, Davao City last Friday.
Andres said he wants to finally put the issue to rest that is why he is not filing charges against the mayor.
“Ang gusto ko lang matahimik na lahat,” Andres said.
Andres also clarified that he did not go into hiding after failing to appear in a closed-door meeting ordered by Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez last Monday.
According to Andres, he has filed a 3-day leave even before the controversial incident took place.
“Hindi ako nagtago... gusto ko lang manahimik muna habang naka leave ako,” he said.
Andres also revealed that his family has been affected by the incident. However, he said he has explained to them the nature of his job as a sheriff.
“Lubos silang nasaktan, pero pinaliwanag ko na lang sa kanila,” said Andres.
He is set to come back to work on July 7, Thursday.
