Egyptian Baby Named Facebook
Jamal Ibrahim, the twenty-something father of a newborn girl, initially intended to name his daughter 'Tahrir Square', but later changed his mind and named her 'Facebook' instead to express "his gratitude about the victories the youth of January 25 have achieved."
The social network has played an integral role in communicating the protests in Tahrir Square that led to the resignation of Hosni Mubarak after his 30 year-long presidency.

Besides Facebook, other popular online and social communication platforms such Google, Twitter and YouTube were also engaged. However, the choice of 'Facebook' was made as it "symbolize all the forms of social media that people used to organize the events that led to regime change in Egypt", according to AllFacebook.
Following Facebook's obsessive legal claims to the words 'Face' and 'Book', we wonder just how long the social giant will let this baby girl keep her name.
Facebook currently has about 5 million users in Egypt. Over 32,000 groups and 14,000 pages were created in the two weeks after Jan. 25.
