Familiar Names Top Senatorial Survey


Five incumbent members of the Senate, five former senators, three House representatives, a former congresswoman, and a daughter of the Vice President, are likely to win a Senate, if the May, 2013, elections were held today, a survey conducted by Pulse Asia showed Monday.
The survey conducted from August 31 to September 7, with 1,200 respondents, showed that Senator Loren Legarda (67.3 percent) was the top pick.
Legarda was followed by Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero with 61.2 percent, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano (49.9 percent), San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito (49.9 percent), and Cagayan Rep. Juan Ponce Enrile Jr. (47.4 percent).

The respondents were specifically asked, “Kung ang nasabing halalan sa 2013 ay isasagawa ngayon, sino-sino sa mga sumusunod na personalidad ang inyong iboboto kung sakaling sila ay kakandidato sa pagka-Senador? Puwede kayong pumili ng hanggang 12 pangalan.”
Thirty-six names of personalities were shown to the respondents where they can pick their choices.
Senators Antonio Trillanes IV (41.2 percent), Gregorio Honasan (40.6 percent), Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III (39.2 percent), former senator Juan Miguel Zubiri (37.4 percent), Aurora Rep. Edgardo “Sonny” Angara (35.9 percent), and former Las PiƱas Rep. Cynthia Villar have the statistical chance of winning a Senate seat in the May, 2013 elections, based on the survey.
Sharing the 12th to 17th places are Vice President Jejomar Binay’s daughter Ma. Lourdes Nancy Binay (27.4 percent), and former senators Richard Gordon (26.2 percent), Ramon “Jun” Magsaysay Jr. (25.4 percent), and Jamby Madrigal (23.2 percent).
