Winners of the 26th Golden Disk Awards
The first night of the 26th Golden Disk Awards ceremony was held on Jan. 11 at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan.
The ceremony honored top K-pop artists based on physical album sales in South Korea in 2011.
Boy band Super Junior was the biggest winner during the first night, bagging the grand prize and three other awards.
Before this, eight winners of the Disk Bonsang were announced. They were Jay Park, KARA, MBLAQ, Infinite, f(x), CNBlue, BEAST and Super Junior.
Super Junior also won the Popularity Award and MSN Japan Award.
The winners thanked their fans on Twitter.
“Always proud of you all. And always love you all. Thank you for everything. Cheers!” tweeted Siwon.
Donghae said, “I’ll work harder. Thank you. I love you. Super Junior the best! ELF the best!”
On the other hand, Jay Park posted, “Big thanks to everyone!! New Breed 2012.” He is the only solo artist who won a Disk Bonsang.
The Rookie Awards went to boy band B1A4 and girl bands Dal Shabet and A Pink.
Infinit and Rainbow won the Hallyu (Korean Wave) Icon Award.
Girl band KARA won the Best Hallyu Star Award. The CeCi award went to boy band BEAST.
The Producer of the Year honors went to Hong Seung Sung of Cube Entertainment.
Tonight, the second Golden Disk Awards ceremony will be held to honor the winners of the digital album sales.
