Charice's father stabbed to death
“Si Charice, hindi pa niya alam.” This is what Raquel, the international singing sensation’s mother, told abs-cbnNEWS.com in tears at the time of the report that her former husband, Ricky Pempengco, was killed in a stabbing incident that happened around 11:30pm on Oct. 31.
“Hindi ko pa talaga alam, nabigla kami,” Raquel reiterated when asked if she was going to her estranged husband’s wake.
Ricky was reportedly stabbed in A. Bonifacio Road, San Pedro, Laguna. According to abs-cbnNEWS.com, police said the stabbing incident involving Charice’s father stemmed from a drinking session.
Apparently, Ricky left to buy a cigarette when the suspect, identified in the report as Angel Capili, Jr., approached him and stabbed him with an ice pick. Ricky was said to have been able to flee the attacker. He, however, collapsed on a pavement where the suspect followed him and stabbed him some more. Ricky was killed on the spot from the multiple stab wounds and the suspect had fled.
More, the abs-cbnNEWS.com report noted that Ricky’s friends did not help him because they were afraid of getting hurt. It added that Ricky might have still survived had he been rushed to the hospital.
As a backgrounder, it was reported that Ricky already had a quarrel with the suspect that dated back to 2005.
For her part, Raquel had once described Ricky as a violent husband. She had left him with her kids—Charice and her brother Carl—in tow.
“Hindi kami nagkausap at wala kaming koneksyon,” the report quoted Raquel. However, she noted that, “Matagal ko na siyang napatawad.”
“Kung bakit masakit pa din sa akin at kung mayroon pa din bang love para sa kanya, siyempre ama siya ng mga anak ko,” Raquel told abs-cbnNEWS.com.
Meanwhile, Charice’s fans offered their support and condolences to the young singer.
