This Paper Clip is also a USB Drive
The paper clip is one of those designs hard—if not impossible—to improve. Since its inception in the 19th century, the humble paper clip hasn’t gone through any serious design revision. Until now.
Verbatim, the company dealing in digital storage solutions, stumbled into this stroke of genius idea: a paper clip that doubles up as a USB drive.
Verbatim, the company dealing in digital storage solutions, stumbled into this stroke of genius idea: a paper clip that doubles up as a USB drive.
Arman Emami designed the Clip-it USB Drive for the company, combining flash storage with the simple functionality of a paper clip; and the product picked up that coveted Red Dot award for 2010.
We can think of many uses for the paper clip, attaching it to hard copy documents to store related images or other media—and this might prove especially valuable in physical press kits, in which images are usually handed out in CDs or loose thumb drives.
The slim profile means not only is the Clip-it slimmer than most USB drives, but it can be attached to wallets, business cards or, as this Verbatim press image rather bizarrely suggests, to neckties.
