Mark Escueta shares details of his proposal to Jolina Magdangal

Bad weather delayed drummer Mark Escueta’s plan to propose to his girlfriend of more than two years, Jolina Magdangal.

“Gusto ko nga sa park. ‘Yung first night, eh, ‘di okay na. ‘O, sige.’ Kaya lang pagod na pagod siya that day so hindi natuloy. Tapos umulan pa.
“The next three days, four days, gano’n na naman. Finally, five days later, ‘yun na.  Pag tingin ko, lumabas pa nga ‘yung moon at maganda ‘yung langit,” Mark related on “Showbiz Central,” June 12, about how he chose the day he popped the question to his lady love.

He recalled how difficult it was to keep the engagement ring out of Jolina’s sight.

“Exciting itong itago,” he said referring to the ring.

Even after the proposal, Jolina was still in disbelief.

Masakit ‘pag kinukurot ko ‘yung sarili ko,” she said.

Relating “hindi ko na alam kung paano ko i-explain kung gaano ako kasaya” after the proposal, Jolina is grateful that “natupad na ‘yung isa sa talagang, kumbaga, idinadasal ko lang na kompletong kasiyahan.”

Jolina related she initially entertained the thought that one day Mark will propose to her, but “nag-iba-iba rin ang nasa isip ko hanggang sa nawala na siya.

The reason, she said, is “baka hindi ka ma-surprise, ‘di ba?

The drummer admitted that when he first laid eyes on her, he knew that Jolina was the right woman for him.

“Umpisa pa lang. Hindi, totoo, umpisa pa lang,” he said, trying to convince everyone. “I think I can speak for the both of us lalo na sa age namin. I think kasi ang ibang tao naiigsian pa sila sa two and a half years (na relasyon namin). Pero I think… I’m 35, she’s 32. From the start  pa lang gusto na namin ‘to, eh.”

Without rattling off Jolina’s qualities that made him think she is fit as a wife-to-be, Mark said it was the singer-actress’ capacity to build a happy family that endeared her more to him.

“Actually, I want to  give credit to my parents. ‘Yun ‘yung unique sa amin,” he shared.

The couple did not give details about their forthcoming wedding but, instead, a list of their ideas.

Jeffrey Rogador, Jolina’s best friend, revealed how the couple first met.

“Nagkaroon sila ng concert sa ibang bansa. Taiwan yata ‘yon. Doon sila unang nagkakilala. Noong natuloy ‘yon, sila uli ‘yung magkakasama. So medyo nagkamabutihan sila doon sa concert,” Jefrrey related.

Another close friend, Jan Marini, said she saw the sparkle in the couple’s eyes that made her think they’re a perfect match.

Both of them are so inspired by each other. Alam mo na may pupuntahan ‘yung relationship talaga.”

RB singer Kyla was so happy when she heard about Jolina’s engagement.

“Actually, ‘yung first time kong nalaman ‘yung engagement nila dito ‘yon sa studio na nag-uusap kami.
Siyempre kinikilig ako for her, saka sobrang saya ko rin kasi lahat kami na kaibigan niya, matagal nang inaantay ‘yon for her.”

Jaya, Jolina’s co-host on “Party Pilipinas,” feels, “She met the right man for her and I know the man has found the right woman for him.”

Jun Magdangal, Jolina’s dad, said he and his wife are aware of the engagement as Mark was polite enough to tell them about it before it actually happened.
