Gov’t Websites Hacked


Hackers, apparently trying to challenge the newly signed Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, struck Wednesday night and defaced the websites of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), and a unit of the Department of Health (DOH).
There were also reports that the websites of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 3 and the Pilipinas Anti-Piracy Team (PAPT) were also hacked. However, the DENR denied the report.

Christian Bautista Victimized By Credit Card Hacker


Singer Christian Bautista urges credit card users to be careful in checking their billing statements these days after he recently became a casualty of credit card fraud.
Bautista, in a taped interview aired on “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Thursday, related that he was shocked upon learning that someone hacked his credit card account to book in a hotel abroad.

Yahoo Breach Exposes Over 400,000 Users, Passwords


More than 400,000 Yahoo Inc. user names and passwords were stolen and published on the Web, putting other websites at risk as well, after hackers exploited a vulnerability in Yahoo’s computer systems.
Some logins for Google Inc., AOL Inc and Microsoft Corp. services were among those compromised. The three companies said they required affected users to reset passwords for sites including Gmail, AOL, Hotmail, MSN and Live.com.
