The New York Times’ 100 Notable Books of the Year were narrowed down to this final list, which contains a contingent of four first novels, Stephen King’s 52nd novel, and nonfiction books that are models of their various forms — biography, memoir, history, argument and scientific analysis.

500-year-old book for sale for $35,000

A partial copy of the 500-year-old Nuremberg Chronicle is now on sale for $35,000 at a rare book shop in Utah.

It’s considered one of the earliest and most lavishly illustrated books of the 15th century and coveted by collectors. Published in Germany in 1493, the book is a world history beginning in biblical times.
