'Asiong' wins 11 MMFF plums; Maricel, Dingdong best actors
Action-drama made an underdog comeback when box-office cellar dweller “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” won 11 awards during the “Gabi ng Parangal” of the 37th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) last Thursday Night at the Resorts World Manila Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.
The biopic took home the Best Picture, Best Screenplay (Roy Iglesias and Ray Venura), Gatpuno Villegas Cultural Award, Best Supporting Actor (John Regala), and Best Director (Gary de la Cruz) awards.
