'Gangnam Style' Reaches 1 Million Downloads In US

Korean rapper Psy's viral hit "Gangnam Style" has achieved another milestone, getting 1 million downloads and 1 million on-demand streams in the US, according to Billboard.
Billboard.com says based on this week's Digital Songs chart, "Gangnam Style" has attained the feat.
"Another honor for PSY: With its latest sales frame, 'Style' passes 1 million in downloads sold to date," according to the chart although "Gangnam Style" slipped in the Digital Songs ranking from No. 2 last week to No. 4 this week.
Psy also accomplished another feat by zooming to the No. 1 spot on the On-Demand Songs chart from No. 2 last week.

However, Psy's dream to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week has been frustrated again by Maroon 5 for the third straight week.
Yesterday, Psy tweeted "64-11-2-2-?," which refers to his ranking history on the Hot 100 chart.
Billboard says Maroon 5's "One More Night" is No. 1 again for the fourth week on the upcoming Hot 100 chart.
"Again, the race was extremely close. Last week, 'Night' bested 'Style' by fewer than 500 overall chart points, the smallest difference between Nos. 1 and 2 since the Feb. 18 chart. This week, just 700 points separate the songs, as 'Night' gains by less than 1% in overall points and 'Style' declines by 1%," wrote Billboard.com.
The Hot 100 chart is based on sales, airplay and streaming.
"Gangnam Style" led in streaming and sales while "One More Night" led in airplay.
"Though the gap has narrowed at radio between the two songs, as 'Style' gains 1.6 million more audience impressions than 'Night,' Maroon 5 remains atop the Hot 100 largely thanks to its wide lead in radio airplay," Billboard said.
The problem, Billboard says, is that Psy's hit song "doesn't sport the massive audience level of 'Night.' Still, 'Style' surges by 22% to 56 million, bounding 23-16 on Radio Songs."
On On-Demand Songs, "Gangnam Style" achieved 1 million on-demand streams, a 28-percent increase, to top the chart.
Billboard says "Gangnam Style" is still in the running for the top spot on Hot 100 next week "given the continued close chart race."
"If 'Style' can close the gap enough on the large airplay lead of 'Night,' and if it can widen its lead enough over 'Night' in streaming, it could be in line for No. 1 on the Hot 100 next week," Billboard said.
In the UK, "Gangnam Style" made another history by topping the Official Streaming Top 100 chart, becoming the "most listened to track in the UK right now," the Official Charts Co. said. Last week, Psy topped the UK's singles chart.
On YouTube, "Gangnam Style" has racked up 427 million views to date.
